2018 LDMSPA Information Day

Join us for our 2018 Information Day and Annual General Meeting.

This annual meeting allows maple syrup producers from across Lanark & District to come together to learn, network, and share tips & tricks before the season begins. The annual meeting takes place just before lunch. A traditional hot roast beef lunch, prepared by the Civitan Club of Perth, is served.

The agenda includes:
• Food grade materials, summary of changes to Ontario Regulations effective January 2018 (OMAFRA)
• Two presentations from maple dealer H2O on Bush Installations, High Brix Process – not only for big producers, and Monitoring Systems – a lot more than vacuum surveillance
• News from the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association
• Update from the International Maple Syrup Institute
• Annual General Meeting (President’s message, Sugarmaker of the Year award, Maple Weekend, and the Festival of the Maples, Summer Tour 2020, member survey, elections to the Board of Directors)
• Update from OMAFRA including information on naturally occurring sulphur that can contribute to off flavoured maple syrup, do it yourself insect monitoring, Asian longhorn beetle, and soil calcium and sugarbush health
• Marketing and funding opportunity for your growing business
• Forest tent caterpillar update, new information from OMNRF and Vermont
• Question and Answer: Producers Helping Producers
• Breaks that allow for networking with other maple producers and visits with the maple equipment dealers present

It is not necessary to be a member of the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association (OMSPA) to attend this meeting. Registrants who join OMSPA at the meeting will receive the discounted ticket price.
